Gate Screener-Metal Detection (18+)

Position Summary

Metal Detection/Gate Screener is responsible for ensuring the security of Henry Maier Festival Park by meticulously screening attendees, employees, and vendors through metal detection and other security measures. This role involves operating screening equipment, effectively communicating with eventgoers, and collaborating with security personnel to maintain a safe environment. This position plays a vital role in preventing potential security threats, ensuring compliance with venue policies, and contributing to a smooth and secure event experience for all attendees.  We would prefer if applicants are able to work all of Summerfest (June 19-21, June 26-28, July 3-5). However, we are hiring for the entire 2025 season which starts in May and goes through October.  For this reason, we would still hire applicants who can work many of the other events, especially in August-October.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

·Operate Metal Detection Equipment:  Efficiently use metal detectors and other screening tools to identify and prevent the entry of prohibited items into the event venue.
·Conduct Thorough Screenings:  Perform comprehensive screenings of attendees, including bag checks and visual inspections, to ensure compliance with venue policies.
·Enforce Security Protocols:  Strictly adhere to, enforce established security protocols, and follow all aspects of the patron screening process during concerts and events at Henry Maier Festival Park.
·Control access to the venue and monitor flow of guests through screening checkpoints to ensure order and efficiency.
·Perform bag screening, inspect equipment and any other items allowed in the park; use a hand-held detection tool to detect weapons and other prohibited items on patrons/employees/vendors.
·Perform handheld and secondary checks of patrons entering the park that have triggered alarms or cannot pass through metal detectors.
·Monitor/read the control panel to identify the location of any prohibited items such as firearms and ensure that prohibited items do not enter the venue.
·Observe patrons entering the gate security area, identify prohibited items, and ensure those items do not enter the park.
·Conduct employee entry screening.

Qualifications:

·High School diploma or general education degree.
·Previous experience in security.
·Background or training in criminal justice is a bonus.
